New For 2019

While we know you’re busy on summer adventures, we did want to tell you about just a few of the new things coming to Flex ED for the 2019/2020 school year.

1. Discover Your Roots Field Trip Program

Back in the early days of Flex ED, there was a program called Discover Your Roots. Through this program, students got to discover their roots by visiting different areas and venues around Saskatchewan. Students had a chance to have field trips with other Flex ED students, bond with their peers, and learn all at the same time. It was so valuable and students who took part in the original program still talk about it today. So… Flex ED has decided to bring it back!

This will be an optional program that will be open to all students in Kindergarten to grade 12. There will be one field trip a month and each field trip will be at a different location in Saskatchewan. Our hope is that students will get to extend their learning beyond the ‘classroom’ while also meeting social needs by making valuable connections with peers. Flex ED will provide a list of the locations as well as dates at the beginning of the new school year so that families can plan their year..

Just a few examples of field trip locations are:

  • Regina Science Centre
  • Fort Carlton
  • Batoche
  • Victoria Stone School House
  • +Many More

2. The Great Small Town Café Burger Hunt

This idea came from Miss. Lisa’s boys, Baily and Rowan. They LOVE hamburgers so they thought it would be fun to visit one small town café a month and try the hamburger and fries. At the end of the school year, they will have gotten a chance to eat at 10 different small town cafes and will be able to declare one small town café as having the best burger! Families that would like to join them would be more than welcome, the list of small towns that they will be visiting and the dates they will be going will be released at the beginning of the new school year. If the small town has a museum they will take advantage of that while they are visiting as well. You can also follow the adventure on Facebook!

3. Mixers

At Flex ED we recognize that K-9 students often times have very different interests than the high school students. This is why Flex ED has decided to hold mixers specifically for elementary students as well as mixers specifically for high school students! We will continue to alternate between Regina and Saskatoon as the main locations. Dates will be released at the beginning of the new school year.

We hope you are as excited about these new initiatives as we are, have a great summer and see you in the fall!
