French AT FLEX ED

As an accredited, Qualified Independent School in Saskatchewan, Flex ED has always been committed to language education. We have expanded our French language offerings, adding French Immersion for grades 5 and 6, and we are now excited to announce our new French/English blended program for grades 7, 8, and 9, in addition to our core French courses for grades 8 to 12.
For enrolment, high school students interested in part-time French can choose from level 10, 20, or 30 through the part-time course enrolment. For French Immersion or the blended course, parents should complete a regular registration and indicate their preference for Grade 5 or 6 Immersion or the Grade 7-9 blended French program on the student registration form.

French Courses

The blended course is for students with a background in French, integrating listening, speaking, reading, and writing in both languages. Lessons are in English, but assignments are completed in French, and student meetings are conducted in French. Subjects include Math, Science, Social Studies, Health, Career Education (Grades 6-9), and Practical and Applied Arts (Grades 7-9). English Language Arts splits assignments between English and French, with additional monthly reading logs and alternating book reports in both languages

This course is for students who have completed Grade 4 or 5 in a French Immersion Program. The subjects taught entirely in French include French Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Health (with Career Education added for Grade 6). English Language Arts, Physical Education, and Arts Education are taught in English. The student meetings are conducted in French.

High school French courses progress from Grade 8 Beginner Core French, designed for students new to the language, to Core French 30 in Grade 12, which prepares students for university-level studies. Each course builds on the previous one, with Grade 9, 10, and 11 courses requiring completion of the prior level or a corresponding proficiency, often verified by a teacher assessment. Core French 30 demands independent language skills and is recognized as a prerequisite for applying to the College of Education at Saskatchewan universities.
